Carnivorous Talk & Terrarium!
Curious about carnivorous plants but not sure how to keep them thriving? Join us for an engaging afternoon exploring the fascinating world of carnivorous plants, followed by a hands-on terrarium workshop where you’ll create your own mini ecosystem to take home! The afternoon begins with a 1-hour presentation (including Q&A) led by guest expert Jeff Popp, he will introduce the different types of carnivorous plants, their natural habitats, and the fundamentals of successfully growing and caring for these unique plants in your home or garden. Then we’ll guide you step-by-step through building your own carnivorous terrarium using plants and materials selected for long-term success. No experience needed — we’ll walk you through everything.
DCPW Community Day at The Well at Oxon Run
Close out DC Plant Week with us at The Well at Oxon Run, a community farm operated by DC Greens! Alongside their Wellness Market Day, we will spend the afternoon on a guided tour of The Well, followed by group harvesting of the seasonal farm produce on-site. Come meet your neighbors, learn more about The Well, and grab some free houseplants courtesy of Rewild DC. Free to attend with all donations benefiting DC Greens.

Looking for a chill spot to unwind after work? Join us at Cultivate the City's new garden location at 2806 Channing St. NE for a laid-back happy hour in celebration of DC Plant Week! CTC Urban Garden Open House with Bloom and Riversmart Homes
Come tour a new urban farm in NE DC and learn about resources for DC residents from Bloom and RiverSmart Homes and other local partners.
Kick off DC Plant Week with a visit to our new urban farm location at 2806 Channing St NE on August 23rd between 12 - 2 pm to check out what we've been growing this year! You'll get a tour of our raised beds, fruits, houseplants and vertical gardens.
DC Water's Bloom will be on site distributing free soil amendment, cool weather seedlings and you can also learn about our greenhouse co-op at Blue Plains Water Treatment Facility. Please bring a container with you to take home your soil amendment.
DOEE's Riversmart Homes program will also be on site doing a rain barrel installation and giving out information on how DC residents can take advantage of the Riversmart Homes program to help mitigate stormwater runoff from polluting our local waterways.
Light snacks and drinks will be available and plants will also be available for purchase.

Tea Blending and Medicinal Plants in the Garden
Come explore the art of tea blending and discover the unique benefits of various herbs we grow and use from our gardens.
